Manufactured Timber Frame Homes
Logangate’s Timber Frame Cabin Kits have a strong emphasis on the warmth and beauty of the Douglas Fir ceilings. At Logangate, we source our Douglas Fir Timbers and Tongue and Groove material from British Columbia. Our timber frame homes come with 4×8 Rafters, surfaced on all four sides, pre-cut, sanded, and numbered to correspond with the blueprints. Furthermore, we pride ourselves on being one of the few modern timber frame home companies east of the Mississippi that uses a 2×6 Douglas Fir tongue and groove. The 2×6 timber frame designs are so strong that they become our structural roof deck. Using quality materials is especially important when planning timber frame home kits out in mountainous terrain; modern timber frame homes can last longer than traditional stick-built homes if quality materials are used. At Logangate, we create timber frame homes using these types of long-lasting materials so that your Logangate Timber Home will last for generations.
At Logangate, we use a modern building method known as prefabrication (“prefab,” among other synonyms). As the name suggests, prefabrication means that pieces of the home are pre-built in our factory-controlled environment with the windows already installed. Once your timber frame cabin kit design is chosen, the rafters are cut to length inside the Logangate facility. Our insulated roof panels are also pre-cut to size as well as pitch cut. All hardware is included, and your modern timber frame home is ready to be delivered to the job site.
Another unique feature of our modern timber frame homes is the exposed loft floor system. We use the same 4×8 timbers as your floor joist and the same 2×6 Douglas fir tongue and groove as your flooring. The results of this feature become evident when you are standing on the first floor and look up at the ceiling; you will see a Douglas Fir ceiling instead of drywall, giving you a consistent feel throughout the modern timber frame cabin. If you’re new to the world of timber frame houses, Logangate Timber Homes offers a truly breathtaking and spacious living floor plan that you’ll love to live in.
Logangate’s post and beam cabin kit designs do not have any attics, and our ceilings go all the way to the roof. Typically, living rooms are designed as clerestory spaces, resulting in 20’ plus heights at the peak. Similarly, the upstairs bedrooms are fully vaulted, adding to the open feel of the design. In our timber frame homes, we design windows in your vaulted spaces that go to the roof. That is one of the most significant benefits of our post and beam kit homes, as they give you a full visual of your gorgeous view.
Modern Timber Frame Cabin Kits
If you are looking to build that perfect vacation home in the woods, by the beach, or just want that rustic look, timber frame homes from Logangate Timber Homes are your best option. We can help build your dream cabin fast and cost-efficient. Our timber frame home plans are prefabricated in the USA. That means we stick-built the walls, pre-cut the Douglas Fir Rafters, and fabricate the insulated roof panels in our manufacturing facility. This leads to a faster build time and an energy-efficient home. We have a variety of layouts to choose from that can be customized to meet your needs.
At Logangate Timber Homes, our home kits are made of pre-assembled walls (panelized construction) with the windows already installed. We also pre-cut and sand the Douglas Fir Rafters and fabricate the insulated foam roof panels. With this process, you will have your prefab home dried in only a few days, minimizing your home’s exposure to the weather. We also, as a standard, install 1/2” polyiso rigid foam board underneath the wall sheathing. Not only do you get an R-3.2 value from the product, but it also creates an important thermal breaker. This is a better system than standard 2×6 walls with only OSB sheathing. Since the walls of our timber frame cabin homes are built in our facility, you can get an air-tight seal that is hard to create outside of our factory setting, eliminating drafts and helping you save money through energy-efficient building.
When building your timber frame home kit, you should be able to design the floor plan that meets your needs. Logangate homes allow you a great deal of flexibility and customization. Our home kits contain home plans that start at 24’ or 28’ deep and then work in 4’ increments, i.e., 24×36, 40, 44, etc. Because of the timber frame home designs, we have very few load-bearing points, allowing you to work with our in-house design team to customize the floor plan any way you like. First, start out by calculating how much square footage you want in total. Second, do you have any viewpoints that you want to highlight from the inside of the home? Third, how many bedrooms and baths will you want? These design elements can all be incorporated into a design that you have always wanted. We have an in-house design team that will work with you and can produce a virtual model in AutoCAD with a full set of floor plans, elevations, and construction sets used for permitting. We take care of it all; no need to incur the extra costs of an architect. At Logangate, we’ve made building your dream timber frame cabin a breeze!
