Because of our unique hybrid Post & Beam designs, we can ship our homes ANYWHERE. We have shipped west to Lake Tahoe, California, east to the Carolina Coast, north to Boyne Mountain Michigan and south to Gasparilla Island, Florida and everywhere in between. How can we do this? We prefab the walls which is called panelized. Our walls are typically only 4 ft. wide. We do this for structural reasons because that creates a double stud situation every 4 ft. That point load is where our Douglas Fir timber comes down, hence Post & Beam. The 4 ft widths also make it convenient to ship the walls and unload them. Our Roof panels are also panelized and precut. They too are 4ft wide x either 8’, 9’ or sometimes 10’. Our 4×8 roof panel only weighs 75 lbs., so again makes it east to unload and to install. The timbers are all precut and sanded as well as the 2×6 Douglas Fir Tongue and Groove. This material is typically put into lumber bunks and shipped via flat bed truck. Bottom line is that this type of prefab home allows us to ship your home package directly from our plant to your site.
The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to many of our Timber Homes spanning from Northern Georgia and South Carolina, Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. A timber home is a perfect fit nestled in the mountains and amongst the trees. As our home base is in Asheville, NC, we must mention that we share the same city with the largest private home in the country, finished in 1985, The Biltmore. Pisgah National Forest spans over 500,000 acres. The original 86,000 acres was part of the Vanderbilt estate and donated in 1914. Asheville area boasts of over 200 water falls and countless hikes. Just to the north of Asheville is Mount Mitchell, the tallest mountain east of the Rockies at 6,684 ft. elevation. If you like your craft beer, Asheville is your town. Winner of Beer City, USA 4 times, Asheville is home to over 26 craft breweries. In addition, 2 new large breweries decided to expand their operations to Asheville, Sierra Nevada and New Belgium.
In the north Georgia mountains lies the Chattahoochee National Forest. Beautiful homesites can be found all around this great national treasure. Towns like Ellijay, Talking Rock, Jasper, Big Canoe, Cleveland, Helen, and Hiawassee are areas that Logangate Timber Homes has built in. Eastern Tennessee is another great landscape for our timber homes. The Great Smokey National Park is easily accessed from Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg. With over 11 million visitors to the Park each year, there must be a reason why everyone travels to this region. West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest and Virgina’s George Washington and Jefferson National forest are both huge attractions for these states. West Virginia towns White Sulfur Springs, Snowshoe, Elkins and Davis all attract visitors and residents with the variety of outdoor activities. Roanoke, Charlottesville, Massanutten, Woodstock, and Front Royal are Virginia towns that also support this lifestyle.
